BirdCall – in progress

The Project

At the start I asked, Where could i collect the voice of Caloundra?

I took the sentence for a walk.

I kept collecting silent voices of place

And the not so silent ones

I also strayed down memory lane. In the 1960’s we came every year on our family holidays to the Hibiscus Caravan Park

I discovered i could collect my thoughts and ideas on the many street seats around Caloundra

Did you know a collective of approx 56 street seats are dotted along Bulcock Street

These collected thoughts and ideas were about initiating connections with others everyday. On these street seats along Bulcock Street is where my activation will be.

In these uncertain times how might our voices be heard?

Inspired by the 1920’s surrealist writing game, where sentences are built up into a story by numerous people

I intend to sit on the street seats around Caloundra with my old typewriter and be the collector of sentences.

I have an online social media page that will invite and collect the traveler’s voice BirdCall

An augmented reality (AR) code will be available to allow others to see sentences built over time _ _ _ _ _ _A ‘reading’ of the collated sentences will be scheduled at the Gallery to coincide with the exhibition Constructing LandscapesBirdCall activation period was to be 16th-20th & 23rd- 27th March …….BUT all that changed on March the 11th when the World Health Organisation declared Covid-19 virus a world wide pandemic ….and as they say ‘the rest is history’!…and now BirdCall Extended

Place2Play interventions will hit the streets in October
