During the Covid 19 lockdown we took our projects online. The opening line for BirdCall is to be, “In these uncertain time how might our voices be heard?”. It seemed very fitting to take this question into lockdown.
As the 1920’s surrealist writing game inspired BirdCall, the sentences already collected offered a microcosm of what everyday was looking like for people during self-isolation.
Hypertext or interactive fiction is an electronic format that provides a non-linear approach to story telling. The reader can choose their reading directions by clicking on different combinations or paths to follow.
BirdCall is all about collecting connections to voices from the wild everyday. BirdCall Extended is about those same connections collected in isolation?
You are asked now to choose your own path in and through the collected sentence, stories from isolation. An unknown pathway, an interactive fiction, unfamiliar yet familiar. It all starts with the questions.
‘In these uncertain times how might our voices be heard? In one sentence what would you say?
I have written a hypertext script of the collected sentences. (add your voice below)
